為迎合現代觀眾品味，導演羅拔·湛米基斯將羅爾德·達爾家喻戶曉之作改頭換面，在《怪誕黑巫后》電影中注入大量創新視覺元素，道出暗黑幽默、而又滿載溫情的故事：1967 年末，孤苦伶仃的小男孩 (賈薩爾·布魯諾飾) 搬往阿拉巴馬州的小鄉鎮迪莫波利斯，與摰愛的祖母 (奧塔薇亞·史班森飾) 同住，期間竟遇到一班美艷絕色、卻惡毒透頂的女巫！於是，睿智的祖母帶著電影小英雄逃亡，來到豪華海邊度假村暫避。可惜，二人與高階女巫 (安夏菲維飾) 恰巧同時到埗，而後者更已召集全球各地的一眾爪牙，偽裝策動邪惡計謀！

Children’s story turned into a horror story

The story pace is slow. Probably only last 20 min of movie has picked up the pace.
The book must have a lot of description on fine details on animals and witches but interpretation too real and became somewhat a horror movie for children and strange positioning for adults.
Reading the book is probably better.
