Standard Operating Procedure  (SOP) of  small  incision Sutureless Extra Capsular Cataract  surgery was written by the Tilganga Eye Center for The Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF) and Himalayan Cataract Project (HCP) as part of its surgical skills transfer program.

It has been developed from experience gained by HCP & FHF surgeons, in particular Dr. Sanduk Ruit of Nepal, as a practical solution for the delivery of high quality cataract surgery in developing countries.
