My Life on the Plains is the story of General George Armstrong Custer as told by himself recounting the events leading up to his attack on the Native American camp at Washita. It also chronicles the rescue of two girls who had fallen into their hands and the love of a brother who did not give up the quest to get his sister back.

The black and white images were restored by Studio Rusni and colorized to give a sense of what people actually looked like at that time. No claims are made for historical accuracy and they are not meant as an exact reproduction of how things appeared. However the inclusion of color seems to bring the photographs to life and instill a sense of personality into the subjects that the black and white photos cannot convey.
